Norfolk is famous for its dry, sunny climate and leisurely, laid back ways. The Broads National
Park is celebrated for its scenic beauty, wildlife and peaceful waterways. Beautiful Burgh Castle
is strategically placed at the convergence of the main river system into Breydon Water.
There's plenty to do close by. Three local golf courses, a horse sanctuary, regular falconry and
other displays and events at Fritton Lake, miles of sandy beaches and the twin seaside resorts of
Great Yarmouth and Gorleston are all within ten to fifteen minutes drive.
Slightly further afield are picturesque old market towns such as Beccles and Loddon, the fine city
of Norwich, with its wonderful cathedral, a wealth of other historical buildings, museums, art
galleries, theatres, sophisticated restaurants and shopping and the rest of the Broadland National
Park, with its numerous Broads, riverside inns, craft centres and nature reserves. From heritage
trails to zoos in fine weather or on rainy days, there's enough to keep you busy for years and our
Explorer leaflets can help you find your way.
Exploring by boat
Our marina is the obvious departure point for countless, different cruises on the 125 miles of
navigable waterways and broads of the Broadland system. The south Broads rivers are ideal for
the private boat owner with wide reaches for true sailing and relatively few hire craft. You
can cruise for 35 miles without passing under any fixed bridges or you can be out at sea on the
ebb tide through Great Yarmouth in an hour or so. Oulton Broad, Lowestoft, Beccles, Loddon and
Norwich all have visitor moorings for overnight stays for shopping and entertainment.
